Kid's Bike Size Guide
Children learn fast, so it makes sense to teach your child how to ride a bike at an early age. Kids starting off with training wheels and learning how to balance have an advantage, as do children learning to ride on tricycles. It’s important to choose the right size of bike, not to underestimate your child’s strength, and to be patient when training him or her. You can find a range of Specialized kids’ bike
here.
How to choose a Kid's bike
It might surprise you, but before doing anything else, it’s a very good idea to get advice from our sales staff and for your child to try out the bike. It must be suitable not only for
safety reasons but also so that your child
enjoys riding the bike. You can determine the bike size using the table below, but remember that this information is indicative only. It’s not possible to determine a child’s height by his or her age. The size of kid's bikes
isn’t determined by the frame size as with adult bikes, but by the size (diameter) of the wheel.
Bikes and features:
- Training wheels form an integral part of the 12" and 16" Specialized kid's bikes, and they can be attached (the lower the angle, the greater the stability) or removed. Specialized kid's bikes also come with passive protection features: foam handlebar protectors, chain protectors/chainring protectors, and similar items.
- For older children (12 years and upwards), the criteria for choosing a bike are the same as those for adults.
